So Now What?
- Our application processors will review your application, complete a vet reference, and reach out if there are additional questions.
- You will be notified by email as soon as your application is reviewed, approved, or declined. A letter with additional information is sent to approved adopters. Please read carefully.
If Approved....
- An adoption counselor will reach out regarding available dogs/puppies
- A Meet and Greet will be set up for approved adopters to meet dog/puppies, ask additional questions, and consider the "best fit".
- The adopter will be asked to "Think It Over" for 24 hrs and reach back out to adoption counselor with a "Yes" or a "No"
- For a YES..... A communication thread (usually through Facebook Messenger) will be set up to include members of the Maggie team and adopter.
- Rescue vetting is completed (to include spay/neuter and microchip) The wait time will vary due to the amount of care still required. Our vet usually requires 10 days after spay/neuter and last vaccine and 30 days after last heartworm treatment.
- Adoption will be scheduled. Adopter can then purchase collar, ID tag, British Lead, and Crate/Seatbelt for "Adoption Day". Adopter can also schedule an appointment with the vet within two weeks of adoption date.
- Adoption Contract will be sent to adopter via DocuSign (Usually the day before adoption)
- Adoption takes place (Usually at Maggie House) Adoption Counselor will review vet records (Adopter receives two copies), answers questions regarding the contract, dog/puppy, etc. Adopter can pay adoption fee of $375 by cash, check or online. If paying online, please consider a donation to cover the cost of processing. An Adoption Photo is taken and sent to the Adoption Thread.
- Adopted pup goes to first vet appointment with new family member. Adopter sends a snapshot of the invoice verifying this appointment and a second snapshot of flea/tick/heartworm prevention prescription.
