Why hello there, my dear fans! Let me begin by telling you that I am truly sorry for not updating you on my progress! The human that I have writing for me has been busy at work and out of town for a conference... Actually, I had to contact her mid-flight to remind her to give you an update on her layover between flights! Anyways!! There's not a whole lot to update you on, I guess. I told you about the bath that foster mom made me take... Gosh, those are horrible. But I love getting all the rubs and attention! Here's my post bath picture... It's a little embarrassing. Don't laugh too much! I'm totally not sharing my during bath picture with you... they are blackmail waiting to happen! And after all, I am a lady! Let's see.... what else? I told you about my foster brothers... well, those are foster mom's resident dogs that live here forever - they've already found their forever homes. I'm still waiting for the perfect one to come along! But let me show you some pictures.... before you judge, just know, they do love me... I promise! I struggle with the concept of personal space so my foster mom has to give them alone time so they can get a break from all my love I want to share! The big Great Dane, that's Blue. He plays tug-o-war with me! I know he could totally win every time, but I think he feels bad sometimes and let's me win. I say whatever... a win is a win no matter how it had to happen! Just look at these pictures! I like to spend my days sun bathing in what is left of the NC sunshine and heat! I have this super comfy chair in my foster mom's office at home where I can catch all the rays while she is at work. She's lucky to be able to work from home a lot of days because I know I fill her day with joy! Well.... maybe it's me who is lucky! Remember how I said I don't understand personal space.... I really, really, really like being with my foster mom. Like, Blue and I try to see who can be closer to her during the day! I am happy as long as I am close by, have sunshine, and have my favorite toys to chew on. Look at these super awesome pictures!! (My foster mom takes good pictures of me! I'm actually sure her camera roll is full of doggie pictures, and that's okay by me!) I guess you're wondering how I am doing medically... well, I guess you can say I'm doing better and improving daily. I know I still have a long way to go, but I am receiving medical treatment for the mange, but I am up to 35 pounds now! I have seen my friend the vet several times and she is pleased with how far I've come in just three weeks. It even seems like some of my hair is starting to grow back in! I can't wait to show you all how pretty I'll be once I'm all better!
Remember that dog I told you about, Howie the Hound Pup with the broken leg? He's doing better and receiving medical care now, too. I can't tell you enough how awesome these Maggie Society people are. They really go out of their way to make sure that all us critters are loved and cared for! The thing is, they didn't win that huge lottery that just got won by someone in SC! So they are always in need of donations to help care for me, Howie the Hound Pup, and for every other dog that comes into the program. When you donate to The Maggie Society, please know that these people really are using it all to care for the dogs like me. Without people like you, they couldn't do their work. I leave you with one last picture of me. Foster mom took a picture while I was talking to her... actually, I was trying to convince her to let me sit in her lap while on an important call. Oops! Enjoy the picture! Until next time, kisses and tail wags! XOXOXO - Anna Christi

Well, hello there! I see you came back to check for an update! I'm so grateful for you! Let me start by apologizing. You see, we had this big storm thing here they call a Hurricane. Luckily I was safe and secure inside when all the rain and wind came through... But unfortunately, my house lost power! Let me tell you - I got really used to that AC and lights!! I'm thankful that it's back on now, but I got to spend major quality time hanging with my foster mom and her resident dogs, Charlie and Blue. I met Charlie, and let me just say, Charlie is super awesome. I think I might have a crush on him! I also met Blue - he's huge!! I'm not sure if he likes me back, but I'm trying to win him over with my charming personality. Here are a few pictures my foster mom took of me while the hurricane was happening with her little bit of battery life she had! So I finally gained the courage to explore the back yard a bit. I'm feeling much better now and the swelling in my feet and legs has started to go down. I even have some hair growing back in!! And I'm getting some muscle tone back, too! I've gotten enough energy to start frolicking with the resident dogs. It's amazing!!! I also tacked the stairs inside the house today... except one problem... I got to the top and didn't know how to get back down. Foster mom didn't laugh at me too much and she carried me down! Oh... you know I love my foster mom... and I know she loves me back... but tonight... oh tonight she did something AWFUL! She gave me a bath. There are no pictures of that horrifying experience. I did not care for that one bit! I'll not forget that experience... but I will forgive my foster mom for it. I know it was in my best interest... having a skin condition stinks... literally! Here are some super videos of me playing!!
So, I know this blog is all about me, but I want to introduce you to a new dog in the care of The Maggie Society! This pup's name is Howie the Hound Pup! Look at how cute he is!! Howie the Hound Pup has a possible broken leg. He was actually seen dropped in the median of a busy highway by a car that then sped off. When he scurried into the road, he was hit by a car. When he was picked up by the local police department, they immediately called The Maggie Society. Of course, they didn't say no!! They don't say no even when it's going to cost a lot to get the pup healthy... I mean, look at me! They didn't give up on me and I barely resembled a dog! Howie the Hound Pup is now in foster care and has seen a vet. He is being monitored for now and will need LOTS of orthopedic care! On behalf of Howie the Hound Pup and myself, I am asking you to consider donating to our continued medical care needs. We can't get better without supporters like you that care about pups like us! Any additional funds raised will go towards treating the next medical need for one of the dogs and pups within the care of The Maggie Society. It seems like this whole rescue thing never sleeps... and there is always a dog to save. I know that I'm thankful for the good folks that care so that this rescue dog can sleep well at night. I'll update you more on Howie the Hound Pup's condition and give you new pictures of me later this week! Hopefully by then I'll have some more hair!! Until then, hugs, kisses, and tail wags! XOXO - Anna Christi
Here to check up on me again, I see! I told you yesterday that I was on the verge of being famous! Well, here I am, local celebrity, loving life, doing interviews with my foster mom, and well, getting healthy, too! Look at me today!! I got to enjoy some cone-free time wandering around exploring my foster home. Boy, it's so nice here! This is my favorite futon, too! My foster mom went shopping for me today! She got me the nicest collar ever! It's super soft on the inside so it won't rub my skin and hurt me. It's even purple. Purple is my favorite! And guess what else I got today!!! I soft cone! Remember how I was found with that icky cone on - then I had to wear a stupid cone again... And I'm totally cool with that... but my foster mom found me a soft one to wear! Gosh, can I just tell you - ahh-maze-ing! I can rest my head without feeling like I have a satellite dish around my head! Look at my pictures!! New collar and soft cone! Looking like a millionaire and the princess I truly am! And while we are at it - let's talk about this whole celebrity status thing! Here's the link to the article and interview with the nice news lady and my foster mom. I let my foster mom speak for me... she's like my agent! Famous people have those, right?
https://www.wral.com/after-facebook-post-neglected-puppy-gets-care-love-on-road-to-recovery/17902182/ Then I talked to this other lady at another news outlet. They forgot to mention the name of the rescue that is taking care of me. But that's okay! Here's that story: https://www.cbs17.com/pets-and-animals/puppy-recovering-after-being-found-roaming-rocky-mount/1508840249 I can't even being to count the number of Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram followers I have that are watching my journey. Let's just say, I get lots of shares. Each and every one of those shares, likes, tweets, re-tweets, and comments help me know that I have an army of supporters. The donations that people are giving are going to help me get all better. I just know it! What's really cool about donations, too, is that once all of my bills are paid, the money remaining will go to help other dogs just like me that are being cared for by The Maggie Society. Those dogs are just as precious and deserve so much, so I feel obligated to use my fame to help them, too! Celebrities have to give back, you know! Anyways, that's about all I have for today in my update. I want to leave you with these last few new pictures that I haven't shared of myself. See you all soon - check back for an update later! XOXO - Anna Christi Why hello there!! I am so glad that you are here to check on how I am doing today! I had my good human friends tell you all about how I was one day one and two, but I'm feeling much better and wanted to give you an update myself! Let's see... where to begin!!
I got to experience an awesome futon couch last night!! I have to wear a stupid cone again since I am so itchy and I'm wanting to bite at my itchies! While I'm not a fan of the cone, I know that it's for the best and it's not permanent. Oh! Back to the couch that I got to enjoy!! I made myself right at home there! I think that I liked it so much so that I could get up and walk around - stretch my legs and cuddle with my foster mom. Speaking of my foster mom - OH MY GOODNESS - she's my favorite! Absolutely amazing person and she even made sure she reassured me when we went outside when it was dark outside. I think she realized that I was a little scared of the dark. She didn't judge me at all and stayed with me the whole time! Man, I love her! Oh - food - totally something that I LOVE, too! My foster mom says that I eat like a champ! I'm even taking my icky meds too. Foster mom thinks she is being sneaky by using those Pill Pockets... Oh, I know the meds are in there, but those things are so yummy! I think it's a fair trade - I get endless pill pockets and take my meds, and my foster mom feels sneaky and smart! She has no idea just how smart I am! I'm eating and drinking well - and I even seem to have this whole "potty outside" thing down pat! I mean - duh - I'm not a savage - I know potty time means outside time! Speaking of outside - I LOVE THAT TOO! I haven't found many things I don't like. I enjoy wagging my tail and being in the green grass outside. I am hoping the weather gets cooler and stays pretty so that I can have lots of outside time with my foster mom. Have I told you how much she loves me? She even slept with me last night on the futon. I don't mind sharing the comfy, cushy space with her. She doesn't even mind that I'm a little stinky right now because of my skin condition. She loves me despite my smell and looks. But honestly, I know that I am a beauty! Guess what! There are so many people that have donated money and have shown that they care about me. I've been told that I might start trending... I don't even know what that means. What I do know is that me and my foster mom have been interviewed twice by two very awesome news people! I guess people saw my rescue story and actually care about animals and how we are all treated. I wouldn't wish this on any pup, but I am glad that there is attention being brought to how us critters are being treated. I'm so glad that a rescue found me. If I could pay everyone back in kisses and tail wags, all my fans would be millionaires. While I am feeling so much better, I know that I have a long road ahead of me. I am still receiving treatment for my skin issues. I'm not sure how much longer I have to take meds, but as long as there are pill pockets, I'm game for taking meds! I want to say thank you to each and every person that has donated towards my care. I would have never imagined that there would be so many generous people out there. Seriously, all your love, donations, prayers, well wishes, thoughts, shares, and virtual hugs are making me feel better! Continue to share my story and if possible, donate to my vet care. If the money that is donated to my care exceeds the cost of my treatment, the remaining money will go towards the vet care of other dogs that are in the care of my rescue group, The Maggie Society. Well, that's all for now! Here are a few pictures of me in my foster home! I'll update more tomorrow! I'm not sure what I've got on my social calendar for tomorrow, but I'm sure I'll check in with you soon! Until then, kisses and tail wags! XOXO - Anna Christi Thank you for following the story of Anna Christi. She has such a long road ahead of her to get healthy, but you can tell she is already starting to feel better and is so much happier! UPDATE, SUNDAY MORNING 10/7/18 What a difference a day makes! Add in some much needed medical care, some love and kisses and mix with lots of prayers and donations from a passionate community. The result... Anna Christi is feeling like a new girl today! Our lovely friend Brittney, who works at ECVets sent us this video and made the comparison pic above this morning! We truly appreciate the donations and hope that people will continue to donate as this little lady still has a long road to getting her itching under control and her scabby skin healed.

Please note: any donations that are given that exceed the cost of direct medical care for Anna Christi will go towards the vet care and treatment of other dogs in our program. More updates coming soon! Just before noon on October 6, we received an urgent plea to go rescue a dog that was found in Rocky Mount, NC in someone's yard hiding under a trailer. One of our volunteers jumped into action to go get this dog. Had it not been a joint effort between Promoting Animal Welfare in NC and our Maggie Society volunteers, there is no telling what would have happened to this sweet soul. Here are the initial pictures we received. After getting her into the Emergency Vet's office in Wilson, she immediately won the hearts of everyone that came in contact with. She was so thankful to have the cone off and wanted nothing more than human companionship and a loving touch. Below are the pictures from EC Vets. The update from Laurie, President and Founder of The Maggie Society, came around 1:30pm on October 5:
The puppy in the cone is now named Anna Christi (after two strong women including Christi who rushed to her rescue!), she is at EV Vets in Wilson. She is not in good shape but is receiving excellent care including fluids and antibiotics for a raging skin infection, extreme demodex mange, blistered skin, has many cuts and scrapes and one of her legs seems to have been bound by a cord and she is emaciated and severely dehydrated. Thank you to Shelley Milburn and the folks at PAWNC for this tag team rescue effort! Anna Christi may have had a rocky start, but she is so blessed to have such an outstanding community to rally to her rescue. In a world that can be full of contention and division, it’s so wonderful to see that people can come together to help a pup in need! Thanks to each of you and stay tuned for updates! To donate to her care, please go to www.themaggiesociety.com and click on the donate button. Please note: any donations that are given that exceed the cost of direct medical care for Anna Christi will go towards the vet care and treatment of other dogs in our program. |
