There is a fairly good possibility that you have seen the recent article in regards to a local (NC) home that had 200-300 animals seized from the property.  In the event that you haven't seen it, here's an article to the most recent story: www.witn.com/content/news/More-than-100-animals-seized-from-Craven-County-property-508321691.html

There have been so many rescues that have stepped in to help out to ensure that each animal has an opportunity at a second chance.  The Maggie Society recently took in several of the dogs from the situation.  With this many new dogs, and so many dogs in the area needing assistance, we need help.  Situations like the one mentioned above is only one of the reasons why we beg for fosters daily.  You might think, "why do they need so much help?" or "maybe someone else can and will step up to help" or maybe even "I just don't think that I could ever foster - I'd get way too attached."  Well, here's the deal.  We need help to save precious dogs and puppies that might not have an opportunity to live their best life.

YOU CAN HELP!  Fostering is something that can be so rewarding!  Here are the basics that you need to know if you want to be a foster for The Maggie Society.
  1. We provide ALL supplies - dog food, crate, medicine, vetting, toys, leash, collar, literally, if you need it, we will provide it for you!
  2. You provide the love and home!  We do our best to find a perfect foster fit for your home.  So you only want itty bitty puppies, great, we've got those!  You prefer seniors, awesome!  You think that the big dogs are the best dogs, we'd love to have you!  We have all kinds of dogs that are waiting to come into our program and we can only help when we have a foster available.
  3. If you want to be a foster, your current pets must be up-to-date on all vaccines, on heartworm prevention, and spayed/neutered.  We want to make sure that your pets are healthy and protected from icky germs.  Plus, we want to make sure that our foster dogs and puppies are going into the best possible environment.
  4. Fostering can be short term!  Worried about falling in love with a dog if you keep it too long?  Well, we need weekend fosters, vacation fosters, 1-2 week commitment fosters, and even long term fosters.  The most awesome feeling in the world is knowing that you made a difference in that dog's life.  And sometimes, you might even fall in love with your foster - and they might just find their forever home with you.

We can do more when we have more fosters.  We would love to have you consider becoming a foster - even if it's a temporary foster while we continue to help the dogs in our area that are coming into rescue due to the above situation.  If you're interested in fostering, please fill out an application: www.themaggiesociety.com/become-a-foster.html
