If surrendering a litter of puppies....

Answer the following questions or select N/A
When funds are available, The Maggie Society will offer to spay the mother dog if the whole litter of puppies is surrendered for rescue.  We provide this service to help prevent future unwanted litters and help control the animal population in our community.  If this service is offered to the surrendering owner, an appointment will be scheduled for spay.  It is the responsibility of the owner to transport the dog to the appointment and restrict activity for the dog during the ten day recovery period.  If the owner(s) is unable to follow through with the spay appointment, The Maggie Society may be unable to offer future assistance with other pets from this home.

    Consent to Dog Temperament Evaluation

Because The Maggie Society a foster-based rescue, we may not be able to offer rescue to EVERY DOG we meet.  Safety of our foster families and their pets is PRIORITY.   Before entrance into our program, the vet/rescue team will do a TEMPERAMENT TEST to
observe and evaluate the dog's attitude towards people and dogs. While our team understands that a dog may be nervous in a new environment, dogs that lunge, growl, snap, or bite at people or other dogs may not be a fit for our program. Dogs that are aggressive, have a bite history, or need to be "an ONLY dog" will not be a fit for our program.

After the vet/rescue team completes the evaluation, the next step is to place the dog into the right foster home.  Our foster homes offer many dynamics and finding the right fit for our dogs is paramount to their success.  The Maggie Society must have an open foster home for ANY dog we place into our program. If one is available, the dog may be placed immediately, but this does not always happen. A dog may be placed on a waitlist until the right foster home opens up.

Once a foster home becomes available and we are able to provide rescue for a dog approved for the program, the owner will be asked to deliver the dog to the Maggie Society and sign a Relinquishment of Rights form, often referred to as a "Surrender Form".
If you are seeking rescue for one or more dogs, please read the statements below and select the response that applies.
