Adoption Process
Once we receive your application, we will review it to see if you meet our adoption criteria.
We often receive several applications for the same dog. We do not base our decision on the order in which the applications were received. We review each application and make our decision based on what we feel is the best fit for each dog. We reserve the right to decline any application that is not in the dog's best interest.
- If you have pets that are not properly vaccinated, we will decline your application. This includes cats that are kept indoors at all times. Current (or past dogs) must have a history of DHPP and Rabies vaccinations/boosters.
- If you have pets that are not spayed/neutered, we will decline your application.
- We do call veterinary clinics to verify past vetting. (Please let veterinary office know to expect our call.) Vet history must confirm annual check ups, annual heartworm testing, vaccinations, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and spayed/neutered pets. If we are unable to confirm this level of care for current or past pets, we will decline your application.
- First time pet owners may be considered based on application, phone or in-person interview, adoption counselor recommendation, home safety visit, home rental agreement, etc.
- All applicants must be 23 years of age or older.
