This is the application for the adoption of a Maggie Pup. There are many questions.  We carefully consider each question to find the proper placement for every one of our well-loved foster pups.  A dog rescued by The Maggie Society has been given a second chance and a promise.  Our *promise* is that they will never again find themselves in a shelter, neglected, abandoned, lonely, unloved, or without veterinary care. These questions help us find that home.

A dog rescued by The Maggie Society is placed into a home with a Foster Mom, Foster Dad, or Foster Family.  Our foster families volunteer their time and energy into helping these pups overcome a hard beginning.  They hold and caress these animals at the worst point of their lives and help bring out the best of them. When a Maggie pup's story is ready to continue in a home that they deserve, our foster families are there to celebrate with them.   Without these passionate individuals, many of our adoptable dogs would not have a second chance at life.

The Maggie Society adoption criteria is governed by a dedicated board of directors that considers what is needed to keep the *promise* to rescued dogs.  To some, the criteria may seem strict.  To our volunteers who have invested blood, sweat, and tears into the rescue efforts, it's an expectation to hold adopters to a higher standard.  If your application is approved, we invite you to become a part of our Maggie family.

If your application is not approved, don't give up.  There are great dogs and puppies in shelters just waiting for a home. There are other rescue groups that may have more flexible criteria.  Don't let one "no" stop you from rescuing a dog in need!

About "The Search" For Your New Dog

Planning for your new dog or puppy
Dogs or puppies adopted through the Maggie Society are vetted by a licensed veterinarian.  All dogs/puppies are spayed or neutered and microchipped before going to their new homes.  Approved adopters will receive an adoption folder with two copies of vet records.  Adopters are required to take their pup to their vet within the first two weeks of adoption to establish as a "new patient", follow up with needed vaccines, and begin appropriate flea/tick/ and heartworm prevention.
